Form 1229 — Consent to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years
Form 1229 is used to give parental consent for a child under 18 to be granted an Australian visa to travel to, or stay in, Australia. It is completed by a non-accompanying parent (or a person with lawful parental responsibility) and lodged with the child's visa application. If one person has been made solely responsible for deciding where the child lives, only that person needs to sign and provide the supporting evidence.
Who needs Form 1229?
A non-accompanying parent, or any person who can lawfully determine where the child lives, when a child under 18 is applying for an Australian visa. It is not used for Resident Return, ETA or eVisitor applicants under 18.
